Viswanathan Anand


Viswanathan Anand is the world famed Indian Chess grandmaster and also the World Chess Champion. Viswanathan Anand is usually called as 'Vishy’ and he became the first Indian chess player to triumph the World Chess Championship title in three different Formats such as Tournament, Knockout, and Match.

Anand was born in the year 1969 of 11th December in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. The parents of Anand are Krishnamurthy Viswanathan and Susheela. His father worked as the general Manager in Southern Railways. Anand finished his schools in Don Bosco. He received degree majoring in Commerce at Loyola College in Chennai. 

When Anand started training for Chess from his mother was six years of old. At the age of fourteen, Anand has won his first National Sub Juniors Championship in 1983. He became the grand master in 1985 and in the year 1987, Anand won the World Junior Chess Championship;, which made him the first Indian to attain the sky.
