Maria Sharapova knocked out in fourth round by Sabine Lisicki



Maria Sharapova who stepped on to Court No1 yesterday on Monday was beaten by Sabine Lisicki of German. Lisicki sank to her knees as the emotion of her achievement overcame her. Lisicki performed her best from the start, and was rewarded with the biggest victory of her career. 

Now for sharapova the dream of a Paris-London double died. There was a half a wobble when Lisicki squandered two match points.


But she made no mistake with the third, Sharapova putting a forehand return into the tramlines.

The game made it clear that anything can happen in Wimbledon.
